GSG-5 SBR (Short Barrel Rifle)

Thu Feb 19 2009
The GSG-5 is a very popular .22 lr version of the HK MP5. The GSG-5 is made by German Sports Guns (GSG) and imported by American Tactical Imports. The GSG-5 pistol is about 19 inches long with a 9 inch barrel, which is too short to add a stock to without creating a short barrel rifle. The paper work was filled out and sent in and the $200 federal tax was paid for this pistol to become an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle). The HK stock was then added to the pistol to create a very comfortable carbine. This SBR will be an excellent training firearm for someone who carries a standard 9mm HK MP5 in the line of duty. All the controls and functions of this GSG-5 SBR are the same as the original H&K

The GSG-5 pistol started out like this. Ordinarialy it would be a federal crime to add a rifle stock to this pistol without also adding a longer (over 16 inch) barrel. But because the paperwork and taxes had been paid and completed on this pistol to convert it to an SBR, adding this stock is now legal to do.
